Bookcrossing find

After ending a semester’s work at the uni pub, I wandered into the city to pass time before I met a friend for dinner. I visited a few bookstores – found a copy of The Colossus of Maroussi at my bookstore’s competition. Regrettably, I passed it up in the hope it will come my way on the trip. If not, I’ll buy it in Greece. Book-buying is constrained at the moment owing to the impending trip. Nevertheless, a book found me.

My bookish friend manages a bag store in the city so I popped in to bring her a coffee fix and say hi. Funky and alternative, her store is a cool place to hang out. Beanbags and bright displays coupled with her delightful conversation make it a must. In the corner she has a suitcase filled with bookcrossing books. She’d brought them in from home – free to willing readers. So, I picked up a copy of Thompson’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I read a few pages and it looks to be an accelerated read. Of course I’ll have to register my bookcrossing find and sign up while I’m at it.

Hi, I thought I'd answer your question here since I had to come here anyway to see whether you use wordpress or not. The feature that lets me see what people search google for is part of the wordpress dashboard, and I don't know how you'd get that feature with blogger. Sorry!

dew, Thanks anyway! Your examples fascinated me so I did a google search. I came across a stat counter which purports to track google searches so I'm testing that one out.

Hey scott, nice of you to drop by! Bookcrossing rocks!

Wow, Bookcrossing, great! I released a few books last summer in my hometown and recently saw that one had made it down to New Orleans. I'm glad.

Wow, don't you just love it when a book finds you? I was very active on bookcrossing for a couple of years...found a lot of nice books and met some wonderful people! You can still find me there (Lotusflower77) although I haven't updated my bookshelf in what seems like years!

Awesome Bybee, I'm glad you've had some successful releases. I have thought about where I would release books before...Have you had more success with particular places/environments? Cute avatar.

Lotus, I'll look you up when I log the find and join bookcrossing.

It's always nice to have a cozy place so people can search for books with comfort and perhaps read some pages there. I hate the busy and dull book stores.
